1. Caleb Valhalla

In at number one, it’s everyone’s favourite Viking-slash-Norse God. Caleb Valhalla started the judging period finding himself having his head shaved thanks to Captain Alan Sterling and The Outfit at WrestleZone ‘Christmas Chaos’. As 2023 arrived in the North East, Valhalla had an impromptu bout with Connor Molloy as ‘Station Hotel Showdown’ in a strong contender for Match of the Year in WrestleZone, considering this was supposed to be Valhalla versus Captain Alan, but Alan was unable to attend the event, we got an unexpected treat in return.

Caleb’s stock in WrestleZone kept increasing, winning The Regal Rumble match, surviving Bruiser Brad Evans and Ryan Riley of The Foundation of the Future in the final three. Though he was ultimately unsuccessful in gaining the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship from Lost Boy Aspen in May at ‘Aberdeen Anarchy’ it couldn’t stop the juggernaut picking up gold when he defeated Zach Dynamite for the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship in August at ‘Battle of the Nations’. Since then it has seen several defences with the title still resting in the hands of Valhalla as of writing.

Over at Fair City Wrestling, Valhalla was dethroned of the FCW Heavyweight Championship in December 2022 by the then-Game Changer briefcase holder Euan G Mackie, finally regaining the title in June in an Iron Man match. His second reign with the gold lasted less than two months before he lost the title in a fatal four way bout with Ian Ambrose coming out the other end with the title.

Discovery Wrestling has felt the presence of ‘The Mighty’ in 2023, starting it off with continuous brawls with Lost Boy Aspen before finding a kinship with him, forming SKOL BROL in the later half of the year to fend off Robb Stow and Monstrum of Mister Manoval‘s Good Times group. This after defeating The Foundation From The Future at Discovery Wrestling’s ‘Excellent Adventure’.

2023 has seen Caleb Valhalla really expand, not only his moveset, but also his character. He is more than a two dimensional Viking, with his work with Lost Boy Aspen, and the adventures had on YouTube/social media with his skateboarding antics, and discovery of Midgard ways has made Caleb a must see in Scottish wrestling.

The judging period also saw Caleb win three Wrestler of the Month awards, and being involved in two Matches of the Month.

A massive congratulations to Caleb Valhalla, will he remain as number one next year?
