On the eve of ArdlerMania: Part Deux, Fair City Wrestling released their latest Empire episode which covered the second half of their September 13th event at the Tulloch Institute in Perth. It provided the final pieces of the story puzzle before their big show at the Ardler Complex in Dundee.

The episode came out the evening before the event so I didn’t have time to write about the show before heading down to Dundee for ArdlerMania: Part Deux, but I have time now!

Originally I watched this between Elgin and Aberdeen on the bus, and because I’m not a terrible human it was on mute with closed captions. So here I am rewatching the episode on the big telly with the volume up as it should be consumed (unless you are there in person).

The show started with Commissioner Kevin Williams with a clipboard. He introduced Ian Ambrose to the ring as one half of the ArdlerMania main event. The mystery contender was revealed to be Alexander Darwin MacAllan, ADM, who was swamped with “Jesus Sucks” chants.

ADM reintroduced himself as The Clyde River Killer, he wanted “The Infamous” Ian Ambrose and not the buffoon that talked to skulls. Ambrose rebuttal told ADM that he didn’t sit around for a year to take the opportunity lightly. An intense back and forth war of words.

A fun contract signing segment, bringing back The Clyde River Killer side of ADM is a great move. The Manifesto version is maybe a bit too subtle for a family based audience but give “The Clyde River Killer” ADM a microphone, let him talk, you’re onto a winner. I love that Ambrose mentioned his history in the Ardler Complex, a very fortuitous venue for The Infamous.

Before the first match of the episode, Brodie Adler made her way out to join Jay Robin and John Young on commentary.

FCW Women’s Championship Number One Contendership – Moxie Malone defeated Kate Calloway by submission to become number one contender for the FCW Women’s Championship.

Moxie had to deal with the power of Kate Calloway in the early going with the collar and elbow tie ups not working out in her favour. A bit hip toss sent The Misfit to the ground with Calloway using her height advantage to gain leverage on the headlock.

Malone raked the eyes to gain the upper hand, choking Kate over the ropes. Moxie wailed on her opponent, grounding her with a shoulder stretch while constantly shouting at the crowd. Her mouth eventually got her in trouble by poking at Calloway who responded with a couple big forearms and a Fallaway Slam (Calloway Slam?) for a near fall.

Calloway hesitated before making her run for a corner splash which Malone made her pay for, stepping out of the way before going back to the ground and pound route with the punches flying.

She weathered the attacks to get a big spinebuster in, after a spate of pin attempts back and forth, Moxie jumped onto the back of Kate Calloway to lock in the Dragon Sleeper for the tap out.

For those that may not have been familiar with Moxie Malone in the run up to ArdlerMania, she showed what she is all about. That relenting feisty attitude in clawing away, never stopping, using shortcuts, constantly trying to cause some sort of damage, it’s fantastic to watch. Kate Calloway gave a very good account of herself, it was clear she was still very new and that frame isn’t quite as sharp as it could be yet but give it a few months and more matches and I think Kate Calloway is going to be a big deal. There aren’t many wrestlers in the country that have her build, and the fact that she has shot out of the gate this year with some very solid showings with a plethora of opponents bodes well for her future.

Moxie and Brodie faced off after the match for a stare down with their match set for ArdlerMania: Part Deux.

Patryk Peterski w/El Tremendo defeated Shaun Faegan by pinfall.

Peterski started hot with a big sidewalk slam as the big beefy clubs rained. Faegan managed to find his opening and when he did Patryk was punished for it.

Faegan slowed the match down, not letting Peterski breath with stomps, shoulders to the gut, and punches. If Patryk moved, Faegan was throwing a fist. Shaun stretched Peterski over the top rope to put all the pressure over the shoulder blades.

Patryk fired back with a couple Polish Hammers and a Gory Bomb stretch into a knee to the face of Shaun Faegan but ran into a Spinebuster to put him back onto the mat. Faegan’s follow up suplex attempt was fought out of for a Spinebuster from Peterski, the nearfall was followed up with a Polish Slam for the win.

A post match embrace from Peterski and El Tremendo was interrupted by Shaun Faegan which caused the mask of El Tremendo to be removed and reveal Marcus “The Glory” Hunter. Hunter smiled and kicked Peterski between the legs before dumping his bucket hat and spitting on the prone body of Patryk Peterski.

This was a slow one, the prolonged beat down of Peterski was brought up due to the fans rallying to support him. The reveal of Marcus Hunter was met with a great reaction, the Fair City Wrestling didn’t forget, and booed Hunter before he even lifted his leg to strike the testicles of Peterski.

Was it a classic? Not really, but the crowd reaction told the story. They love themselves some Patryk Peterski. Shaun Faegan played his role perfectly.

FCW Tag Team Championships – DE (Duke & Asher) defeated Casino Brutale (RABU & Mikey Devine) by pinfall to retain the FCW Tag Team Championships.

Mikey Devine got some early cardio in, running around the room to drum up extra support for Casino Brutale. Not that it was needed as the Tulloch Institute showed no love for the tag team champions.

Asher celebrated early after an arm drag, but his celebrations were short lived with a very cutting “no one likes you” chant from the Empire Zone. DE tried to cut off the ring and isolate Devine but some quick thinking saw Devine leap over Duke and get RABU into the bout.

A knee to the back from Asher on the outside left RABU on the back foot as DE took over. Once again it was agility that proved to be the main strength for Casino Brutale as RABU sent Duke down with a dropkick to bring Horsepower Mikey Devine in like a house on fire, running rampant with a Six-De-Vine, as DE found themselves on the outside of the ring, looking up to a barrelling Mikey Devine throwing himself off the apron to wipe them out.

DE found themselves back on top, Duke threw his weight about to keep Mikey Devine on the defense. A Hart Attack caused RABU to interrupt the pinfall with a hard shove to Duke to sent him to the floor.

The wear down of Mikey Devine continued, Mikey fought off Asher on the turnbuckle, managing to hit a flying Codebreaker to Sebastian Asher and tag in a fired up RABU who was happy to throw kicks at DE and a draping neckbreaker to Duke for a long two count.

An assisted Gory Bomb looked to have wrapped up the match but Asher dived in to break the fall. Duke wriggled out of an Aces High position to push Devine into RABU, which left Mikey Devine to be hit with a Magic Killer from DE but RABU threw himself into the pin to keep Casino Brutale’s championship dream alive.

Asher ducked a superkick that saw referee Chris Quinn cracked in the face as the brawl began between both teams. Asher grabbed Jay Robin’s DAPW Championship to hit Devine but Mikey kicked out at two, Duke careened over the top rope as RABU avoided a collision.

The nearfalls kept coming, RABU avoided a punch with Brass Knuckles with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but it was those Brass Knuckles that DE brought in being the difference maker. RABU held the weapon but decided to hand them to the referee which was all the distraction needed for Asher to roll up RABU and hold the tights to retain.

Casino Brutale and DE got into a shoving match afterwards, Kevin Williams returned to announce that he was fed up of DE’s shenanigans and a rematch would take place at ArdlerMania: Part Deux in a Tables Match.

A banger of a main event, the fact that DE had a fan try and square up to them during the melee after the match was mad. Duke and Asher don’t have a fancy moveset, they just come in a punch and kick around. No frills. There were some jagged moments, it wasn’t pretty at times, but that back portion from RABU getting back in onwards was thrilling with the near falls and chaos. The fact Duke got back up after his 100mph crash and burn over the top rope to the floor was incredible and he put full power into his Bicycle Kick to Mikey Devine on the outside to let out the anger from the spill.

You could feel the frustration in the post-match pull apart, just a well crafted finish. The crowd bit for that RABU Blue Thunder Bomb and were furious when Asher grabbed the tights for the tainted victory. Casino Brutale are a phenomenal and charismatic tag team, and DE are deplorable in their actions, an excellent combo for entertainment.

The road to ArdlerMania: Part Deux is set with footage of the event hopefully out soon for your viewing pleasure.
