The latest edition of FCW Empire featured a three minute recap of last week’s episode, along with a teaser for future episodes. A great video package to refresh the memories with the matches to come being direct links to last week’s events.
Euan G Mackie & Kevin Williams defeated Shaun Faegan & Luke Matthews by pinfall.
It didn’t take long for the match to descend into a brawl with Matthews and Faegan sent over the ropes, and a flying Euan G Mackie followed. The opening flurry settled down with Mackie frustrating Shaun Faegan, Faegan tagged out to Luke Matthews to be met with Kevin Williams.
Matthews begged off Williams, which suckered Kev to get distracted by Shaun Faegan tripping Euan off the apron for the big brutes to take advantage. Mackie got the tag in but was isolated with hard strikes, and kept in the corner of Faegan and Matthews via quick tags.
Just as it looked like Euan was about to bring in The Gear Of War, Luke Matthews was quick to scoot around the ring to take Williams off the apron and slammed Kevin off the wooden floor.
The destruction of Euan G Mackie continued, as Euan kept breathing defiantly, head slapping his way to discombobulating Luke and Shaun enough for a double Sliced Bread to crawl he way to Kevin Williams’ open hand.
A non-stop Williams ran through the villains, but his Mega Driver was stopped by a pop up knee from Luke Matthews. Mackie returned to assist by adding the extra drive on a flapjack to have Luke’s head meet the canvas and be out for the count.
Perth’s Tulloch Institute were along for the ride in seeing Kevin Williams make his Fair City Wrestling debut, and return to a Scottish wrestling ring after a prolonged absence, after being an authority figure since the promotions inception.
It was a well paced match, the comeback from Kevin Williams after being taken out was received well.
ADM defeated Sebastian Asher by disqualification.
DE tried to outnumber ADM before the bell only for The Clyde River Killer to fight back and launching a charging Spike Tierney into Duke, then sending Tom Atlas into the path of a Sebastian Asher spear.
ADM absorbed chops from Asher following a reset but the numbers once again gave DE the advantage. Referee Lex Loomis eventually had enough, catching Spike holding the FCW Junior Heavyweight Championship in preparation to dunt it off the head of ADM. Loomis sent DE to the back, with Asher turning around then upside down thanks to a head ripping Lariat.
Tom Atlas snuck back out to grip the ankle of ADM, sadly for Tom he was flung out of the ring. Satisfied with his work, ADM took a moment to wave away Atlas which gave Asher enough time for a triangle dropkick to stumble ADM, jumping on a weakened giant to claw at the eyes, daring Loomis to disqualify him.
Asher showed a killer instinct to jar the top of the head of ADM with a spiking DDT for a near fall. A jab to the jaw from Asher wakened ADM, who fired back with a neckbreaker and a Claymore. Just as ADM was about to chokeslam Asher on route to victory, DE returned to jump ADM for the disqualification.
Caleb Valhalla rushed out to make the save, cutting Spike in half with a spear and gifting Tierney to ADM for a chokeslam backbreaker.
Kevin Williams marched out to make DE versus ADM & Valhalla for the FCW Tag Team Championships at ArdlerMania official.
It was a straight forward match, DE used short cuts and distraction to give Sebastian Asher the advantage, but once it was one on one then Sebastian got pulverised. It lead into the conclusion and match announcement with as much context as possible. The match itself was fine, and the story elements hit at the right moments.
Overall a solid episode, the use of the opening recap really helped have all the lore needed to add the investment into the matches, a great addition.
