The biggest event of the World Wide Wrestling League calendar headed to Stirling. Wrestlution was to feature the culmination of the W3L year.

It was a somber beginning, a fantastic tribute to the late Scott Renwick was played with the roster gathered in the ring for a 10 bell salute. I don’t have a lot of stories to share about Scott Renwick but whenever I saw him at a show he would light up a room with his pure joy of life, or his terrible puns, either did the job.

Triple Threat – Mikey Devine & Saqib Ali defeated The Commune (The Jackal & The Tormentor), and Rory Shaw & Sami Sparx by pinfall.

In the Wrestlution pre-show on the W3L Network, it was a triple threat tag team match. The Commune were sent to the outside with the last minute team of Saqib Ali and Mikey Devine looked to fair best from the pandemonium.

The match never settled with nobody getting any time to think as the bodies came in and out of the ring, like it was lucha tag rules. The Jackal sent Saqib for a modified big swing that ended with a German Suplex which was inventive.

Devine tagged in Ali, who ducked a double clothesline to nail a couple of running knees to The Jackal and Sami Sparx. The Jackal rolled out of the ring to leave Sparx to be covered by Ali to give the win for his team.

A breakneck match that was invariable disorder, there was little time to establish anything other than that Mikey Devine and Saqib Ali formed a fun team that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of.

W3L Women’s Championship – Fatal Four Way – Hera w/Rory Shaw defeated Moxie Malone, Brodie Adler, and Rubi Roberts by pinfall to win the W3L Women’s Championship.

Moxie Malone made a quick escape to leave Brodie Adler and Rubi Roberts to weaken The Goddess. Malone slid in to break a count, but found herself being caught in the middle of the temporary alliance of Adler and Roberts while Rory Shaw dragged Hera to the outside to recover.

Hera and Rubi brawled on the outside while Moxie locked in a sleeper hold to Brodie. Hera re-entered the battleground as the match broke down with all four trying to gain an advantage.

Adler sent Malone tumbling to the outside but walked into a Samoan Drop from Hera. While Rory Shaw blocked Malone from returning to the ring, Hera covered The Dynamite to win the W3L Women’s Championship.

A quick match that got scrappy rapidly.

Mike Musso defeated Chris Renfrew w/Sami Sparx by pinfall.

Musso and Renfrew fought over a collar and elbow tie up with neither man getting the best of the situation. It took Sami Sparx tripping the foot of Musso to give The Godfather of Insanity the chance to club at the spine of The Merchandise and taking the match to the floor.

The brawl went around the ringside area with Mike having to deal with Renfrew along with Sparx nipping at his heels.

It continued to be a two on one brawl, Renfrew would occupy referee Archie Williams while Sami would dig into Musso.

Mike Musso fought back to hit a second rope diving clothesline to put Renfrew down to the mat. A Stunner almost gave the victory to Chris Renfrew but Musso got a shoulder up.

Renfrew had enough and barked orders at Sami Sparx to grab a chair. Sparx complied, collecting the object and holding Musso against the ropes.

A quick duck saw the chair make a connection with the skull of Sami Sparx, and in the confusion saw Mike Musso roll up Renfrew for the victory.

It was a solid match that became a fist swinging fight with a couple biting near falls.

UEWA European Heavyweight Championship – BT Gunn defeated Euan G Mackie by pinfall to retain.

Euan G Mackie arrived as the mystery opponent for BT Gunn. Opting to enter as The Very Good Mr Euan G Mackie form, purple tutu and all.

A fast paced counter-fest opened the match with Gunn and Mackie exchanging at a blistering tempo. Euan started getting some momentum building as he relentlessly went after BT Gunn.

Gunn swept Mackie off the turnbuckle to get some traction going but was soon back at the mercy of Mackie, and finding himself being tossed to the outside and looking up at a flying Euan G Mackie coming towards him at force.

Mackie struck with a lovely sit out version of the Sliced Bread, that became like a Salida del Sol. Euan went for for the Whoopie Cushion from the top rope but it was avoided by BT Gunn, who grabbed Mackie for a Flatliner to retain the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship.

BT and Euan shook hands after the match.

A fantastic match to re-establish Euan G Mackie in W3L. He looked like a considerable threat to Gunn’s championship without use of any tricks. The throwback to a previous form was lovely kick of nostalgia which will no doubt be subject to an evolution in the coming shows.

Two guys that have a quality match loaded at a bare minimum had a great match together. Shocker.

Irn Dru Marshall defeated Richard Holliday by pinfall.

After getting MC Fiona to reintroduce him properly, Richard Holliday took his sweet time to actually get physical in the match and making Marshall wait.

Holliday and Marshall shifted around through the lock up combinations, before Richard Holliday struck low with a boot to the gut of Irn Dru.

His advantage was short lived after ramming the head of Marshall into the turnbuckles, which seemed to awaken the Scottish Superman and have him switch to a higher gear.

The swing of energy returned to Richard Holliday, who took aim at the back and limbs of Irn Dru thanks to the hard Irish whips into the turnbuckles and a Garvin Stomp to the knees and wrist of Marshall.

Irn Dru wasn’t for rolling over but Holliday had his opponent well scouted, as he side stepped a second rope Moonsault, and anticipated Marshall’s offense.

An inverted Airplane Spin that was spun out into a neckbreaker collected a two count for Holliday. Marshall recovered for a burst to pick Holliday up for a Michinoku Driver for another near fall.

Marshall got driven backwards by Holliday that had him collide with referee Archie Williams to knock down the official.

Thanks to the referee being indisposed, Holliday unleashed The Signature Move and twisted the body of Irn Dru with another neckbreaker variant. Williams slowly made the count but Irn Dru kicked out.

An incensed Richard Holliday tried to intimidate Archie Williams who pushed back, literally. Holliday once again turned his attention to Marshall until he found himself at the receiving end of a headbutt from Irn Dru to see Marshall score a big win.

It was easy to see why Richard Holliday is so highly regarded by his peers. He carried himself to an outstanding level, and Irn Dru made the most of the crowd throwing everything they had behind him to leave them satisfied with the result to raise his stock further in W3L.

W3L Heavyweight Championship – Luke Aldridge w/The Jackal, and The Tormentor defeated Lou King Sharp by pinfall to retain.

It didn’t take long for the match to enter the territory that suited The Blood Tourist, as Sharp struck first and took the match into the crowd

The Commune tried to get involved with a leg trip but Archie Williams was on it, sending The Tormentor and The Jackal to the back. Even though the numbers were now the same, Aldridge was able to use the confusion to bully Sharp into the corner.

It was all about Aldridge when it came to control as he stretched Lou King Sharp to keep Sharp subdued.

Lou backed Aldridge into the corner, unfortunately, he also squashed Archie Williams in the process. Archie’s night went from bad to worse as he absorbed a shotgun dropkick by Sharp that was meant for Luke Aldridge.

Sharp immediately used the Singapore Cane, he scaled the to the top turnbuckle to drop an elbow drop. Archie began to stir to start a count until the lights went out.

The lights came back on to reveal Euan G Mackie in a more sinister form with a shovel in hand. He cracked it over the head of Lou King Sharp to allow for Aldridge to drape an arm over the chest of Sharp to keep the W3L Heavyweight Championship within The Commune.

It got down and dirty immediately for constant mayhem. The twist to the tale with Euan G Mackie arriving from the darkness to cost Sharp the match was like a rug pull after seeing him being so respectful with BT Gunn earlier in the evening to create a whiplash of betrayal.

Overall a strong event from W3L. Holliday/Marshall, Gunn/Mackie, and the main event were well structured, and every other match had some positive aspects.

It was a hyped up crowd, and other than the odd occasion they came along for the ride throughoutk.
