We’re up to the final part of May’s Fair City Wrestling offering, hopefully it ends with a bang because the last couple episodes haven’t lit my world on fire to be honest. A couple tags matches, on with titles at stake and a grudge clash might just pull it all back.
Spike Tierney made his way out to talk about his injury status, he hit the young people patter of being 67% healed and somewhere Patryk Peterski’s rage doubled. The lights went out as Red Gate made their way out for their match. Kevin Williams ushered Spike Tierney out of the ring.
Between the crowd being receptive to Spike’s change of heart after terrorising FCW with DE, and transferring all that good feeling to disdain for the interruption it was mission accomplished.
FCW Tag Team Championships – Red Gate (Valek & SAMUEL) defeated Pretty Jumpin’ (Sam McMillan & William McLeod) by pinfall to retain.
Pretty Jumpin’ entered to The Anthem by Good Charlotte so it’s an automatic five stars if one was to do that sort of thing.
It was a scrappy start with Red Gate swinging for the fences, McLeod and McMillan fought back to separate the spooky twosome with some jumpin’ antics. SAMUEL returned to the ring to break up a pin attempt and focused his ire towards William McLeod with some hard chops and a nasty looking brainbuster. As Red Gate isolated McLeod the noise in the Empire Zone was all for Pretty Jumpin’. William tried to carve some space but a rebound clothesline from Valek kept him at bay as SAMUEL was cerebral in dismantling his victim.
A wheelbarrow bulldog made the room for William McLeod, unfortunately SAMUEL had ran around the ring to trip Sam McMillan to put the control firmly back into the camp of Red Gate. Another escape attempt has McLeod jumpin’ over Valek and across the ring to get the tag to unleash the Pretty Boy. A flurry of offense from McMillan got a near fall. The power of SAMUEL came back into play with a pop up neckbreaker to Sam as the match broke down.
It was a little awkward to get into position but a straight jacket hold from Valek to McMillan had Sam prone for a SAMUEL Frog Splash to see Red Gate retain.
Moonshine, Tommy Cross, and JD Wilde arrived to put a beating onto Sam McMillan. Spike tried to enter but was dragged back by Duke Cannon who decided to dive into the ring for a five on one mugging. SAMUEL rolled Tierney in to get a Cribbie Cruncher from Tommy Cross to leave Red Gate standing tall.
A pretty good match, but genuinely between the crowd investment and an underdog story it was well put together. The stand out was SAMUEL, he has got a very confident stance and has developed plenty of attitude to go along with his ruthless strikes. The beginnings of a Red Gate against a reformed Dominate Everything showdown was threaded in nicely.
Cheeki Breeki (Patryk Peterski & Stan The Slav King) defeated The Scum Bucks (Ian Ambrose & Eddie Devine) w/Miles Ambrose by pinfall.
Ian sent out Miles Ambrose as his substitute but Cheeki Breeki weren’t having in and retrieved the senior Ambrose to get the match started properly. Stan and Patryk used Ian’s head like a swing ball with their fists as those thick blue bats to have Ambrose spaghetti legged. The Hashtag Scumbag begged off to his corner to tag in Eddie Devine who immediately took advantage of a distraction to smash Stan with his chainmail headpiece that only got a two count.
Devine tried to attach himself to Stan’s leg to stop him bringing in Peterski, hooking it enough to bring Ian back in after a little rest. The right knee became the focus of The Scum Bucks. Between Eddie’s flailing attack and Ambrose bringing the hard strikes it had Stan being picked apart in the middle of the ring while his comrade could only watch on. Stan managed to avoid a battering ram headbutt to deliver a drive by kick to the head of Eddie Devine and get his hand out to an amped up Patryk Peterski who was ready to receive.
Peterski went straight for Ian Ambrose with a barrage, Ian snuck in a cutter for a heart in mouth near fall. Ambrose tried to use the case but events lead to the referee being knocked down as Ian connected with a low blow. Peterski defiantly kicked out for the pair to trade right hands. Amongst it Ambrose managed to tag Devine before Ian was sent into the air with a Pole-ympic Slam with an Slav sized elbow dropping on his spine by Stan for the giggles.
A back suplex/neckbreaker from Patryk and Stan left the body of Eddie Devine to back covered to give the sweet victory to Cheeki Breeki to a joyous Empire Zone. A hot main event with a great reaction to end the night.
After the last couple episodes that hailed from this event this was needed. The Spike Tierney segment threading into the next match through past the conclusion was good with the match in the middle being solid. The main event was emotionally charged with there being no wavering on the support for Patryk Peterski who has a good chemistry with Ian Ambrose which makes it all the better. Stan showing signs of insanity was fun with Patryk having to hold The Slav King back from Miles Ambrose after the latter gave him a wee tap on the head after scalping him previously. It was a mixed bag show overall with the final third offering the best of the night.
