It was just the one match featured on this week’s edition of FCW Empire, which hailed from Dundee & Angus Pro Wrestling’s Halloween event named Carnival of Souls at The Queen’s Hotel in Dundee. The night was spooky themed to include all the fun and frolics of all hallows eve, but within the dress up and darkness was a showdown of the sinister…

Tommy Cross defeated Redmond by pinfall.

A wristlock exchange started it off, that transitioned into headlocks back and forth. A stiff slap to the face by Tommy Cross to Redmond woke up the Northern Irishman to knock Cross down with a shoulder tackle. Redmond had an answer to Tommy’s offense with Cross having to take a breather on the outside to regroup but was soon being pursued.

Cross pounced to kick the middle rope while Redmond re-entered to take control. Tommy guided Redmond around the ring but a headbutt was returned with one from Redmond to knock Cross to the canvas. Redmond couldn’t get the momentum on his side as Tommy once again got back in the driving seat to absorb the damage and throw Redmond with hard Irish Whips into the adjacent corners to had Redmond writhing in pain.

Redmond dodged a corner splash to fire back with a Claymore Kick to start the referee’s ten count. Once the competitors returned to their feet Redmond showed his power to German Suplex Tommy Cross twice. A lariat put Redmond back to the mat for a very near fall. Cross rebounded off the ropes to be powerslammed, but as Redmond tried to finish the match, Tommy sidestepped to send his opponent crashing face first into the turnbuckle.

Tommy took advantage by grabbing Redmond to drop him with a Big Ending, then put the final nail in the coffin via a Cribbie Cruncher to pick up the win.

The match was fine, Redmond got to show a little bit of what he can do and that, along with a striking look, certainly left an impression on the DAPW audience. It would’ve been nice to see more character but hopefully it’s opened the door for a return and to have it evolve further. Tommy seemed very focused on the match with some underhanded tactics to make sure that the boos swung his way.

I know Red Gate are a bit more the silent brooding types but I would appreciate a little more crowd interaction personally as I think that could draw in more investment from the crowd which may make the shortcuts taken even more impactful.

An ominous video package played after the match to show the intentions for Red Gate as the credits appeared.
