After the unfortunate cancellation of Showcase Pro Wrestling’s show in Locharbriggs and a week-long break from profiling The Life Of Smith, yours truly had a bit of down time, which involved getting some new photos done courtesy of Darren Wyllie Photography and training at the W3L Action Academy. I also returned to SSW for their Collision event in Bathgate after a two year exile.

As someone that is often haunted by two to three year old promo photos of himself, I decided it was high time I got things sorted. Darren is often at W3L live events and has a cracking portfolio and testimonials to his name, so I approached him to get them done. I would strongly recommend Darren to other wrestlers out there and found him to be very helpful and responsive. His studio is also not far from a Toby’s Carvery in Edinburgh, which is always a good idea, especially after my bad idea of fasting the morning leading up to the photo shoot.

It was also good getting back into the swing of things with training. With my outside world itinerary, I do find my attendance at training to be few and far between. However, I have recently been making more of an effort in training, at the gym and with my eating habits. It was also good to see people of varying experience levels making good progress and showing them things I have picked up myself on my escapades.

This Saturday that has been and gone also saw me return to Bathgate-based promotion SSW, where my last appearance there was in May 2014 against Morado. This time, I found myself in a triple threat match against Brandon Adams and Kaiden King, which involved an interesting two blue-eyes versus one villain dynamic, Kaiden King winning after countering Brandon’s Frog Splash attempt on me with a RKO and pinning him for the victory.

The rest of the SSW bill saw returns for Nathan Reynolds and El Technico, as well an influx of home-grown talent and PBW Academy graduates, giving the event a mix of youth and experience. I also left my coveted ring jacket at the venue, but I am positive that we will be reunited at some point in the future. All in all though, my SSW experience was an enjoyable one and many thanks to them for having me.

SSW’s next live event is on Saturday 28th May at the Regal Theatre in Bathgate and as I elaborated on last time, there is no doubt a few gala day appearances will be taking place leading up to the next set of W3L shows at the end of June and their Northern Tour during the first week of July. Until then, that is life, according to The Life Of Smith. Good day.
