Preview: WrestleZone ‘Live in Balmedie 2018’

The road to Halloween Hijinx heads towards the Balmedie Leisure Centre on Saturday evening for another night of headlocks and body slams. With the annual spooktacular event now just three weeks away, it’s the last chance for the WrestleZone roster to make an impression on management. A lovely main event is on offer as Andy Wild challenges for the Undisputed Championship, as well as five other lovely contests!

Undisputed WrestleZone Championship
Andy Wild vs Damien (c)

As mentioned, an Undisputed Championship match will headline the evening, with Damien set to defend against Andy Wild in just the second singles match between the pair in history. The first encounter, also for the Undisputed Championship, came last November in Arbroath, where The Revolutionary walked out with his hand held high. Since then, they have faced off in multi-man contests, including a recent Triple Threat Match in Brechin where Damien fended off Wild and Johnny Lions. It was the leader of The Wild Boys who took the pinfall here, although he claims it was nothing but a fluke. The former Tri-Counties Champion demanded another opportunity, something Damien was happy to offer. This will be brilliant, two men who are at the peak of their careers right now!

WrestleZone Tag Team Championships
Bradley Evans & Zach Dynamite vs The Rejected (Chris Archer & Mikkey Vago) (c)

The Tag Team Championships are also up for grabs as The Rejected make their first defence since Aberdeen Anarchy X against Bradley Evans and reigning Tri-Counties Champion, Zach Dynamite. Throughout their four reigns as the tag champs, Chris Archer and Mikkey Vago have seen off all comers, from The Sterling Brothers to The Outfit to The Kings of Catch. They’ve got a slightly different task ahead of them in Balmedie however. The Evans and Dynamite we used to know are now long gone as the pair now won’t shy away from using any underhanded tactics to get the job done. That’s how Zach has retained his Tri-Counties Championship since regaining it last month, with the help of Bradley. Archer and Vago like to take a steel chain to the ring with them, which could come back to bite them if either of their opponents get their hands on it.

Alan Sterling vs Bryan Tucker

Alan Sterling becomes the second former Sterling Oil member to return to action following the group’s breakup at Aberdeen Anarchy X as he takes on one of the men responsible for the loss, Bryan Tucker. Throughout the entire time Sterling Oil have been part of WrestleZone, Bryan Tucker is a name that has never once seen eye to eye with them. One of the main reasons for this is of course due to the fact his former tag partner Shawn Johnson joined the faction in 2015. He won’t have to worry about them now however but what he does have to worry about is a very angry Alan Sterling. When Alan ditched the Lord Alan character in 2015, he became more calculated in his attacks as he added a brutal DDT to his arsenal, a move we haven’t seen for a while from what I remember. Let’s see how Bryan fairs against this version of Sterling.

Jason Reed vs Scotty Swift

Jason Reed continues in his quest to Make WrestleZone Great Again as he takes on one of the pioneers of WrestleZone, Scotty Swift. Reed’s mission thus far has claimed the names of Bryan Tucker, Bradley Evans, and Lord Michael of Graham, amongst others. A victory over The Red Haired Warrior would be, in my opinion, the thing that sets him on the path for a championship match down the road. He’s been impressive all throughout his journey and with Agent W by his side, there seems to be no-one able to stop him. If Cpt L.L Manton Esq. is in attendance, expect to see him cost Swift the match as revenge for his backstage interviews constantly being interrupted.

Kaden Garrick vs Dino Del Monte

A battle between two of WrestleZone’s resident powerhouses will rock the Balmedie Leisure Centre as Kaden Garrick goes one on one with Dino Del Monte. These two men have previously met in Triple Threat action as part of the Battle of the Nations pre-show, where it would be Del Monte scoring the victory over Bradley Evans following Garrick’s spear. Speaking of that spear, it’s been a vicious monster ever since Kaden debuted in 2014. Over the years, it’s put away many top names in WrestleZone and has led Kaden to championship success. To counteract the spear however, Dino has a lovely rolling elbow that would make Kassius Ohno proud. This will just be a properly lovely match.

Blue Thunder vs Ted O’Keefe

Dino’s tag partner in The Outfit will also be in singles action as Ted O’Keefe goes up against Blue Thunder. As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, Ted is the darkhorse of the pairing. When they debuted in March, it was Dino with Ted just their as his manager. On the occasions we’ve seen O’Keefe in action however, we’ve come to see how talented he is aswell. He possesses one of the best spinebusters I’ve seen in wrestling, something that could give him an advantage over Blue Thunder. The Masked Wonder is a rare sight these days, but he does lend a helping hand over at the training academy to help with the future stars of WZ. Maybe he’ll show Ted a trick or two.

Another cracking night of action is set for the Balmedie faithful. As per usual, tickets can be bought from, priced Β£12 for adults, Β£10 for under 14s, and Β£35 for a family of four ticket. Fans can also pay at the door on the night. Doors open at 7pm, with the action underway from 7:30.
