We’ve teamed up with Scottish Wrestling Discussion to share their interviews with the wrestlers in this wild world of Scottish wrestling.
You can check out their website here for more interviews and pro wrestling content.
We got the chance to have a chat with Stone Malone to get to know him a little better. We hope you all enjoy this wee read.
How did you get involved in wrestling?
I like to think it was fate.
My dad informed me their was a local show in the Airdrie town hall so we both went and during the interval the MC informed the crowd their was a school nearby so I decided to go the next week.
Any funny stories from your beginnings in wrestling?
When I started training I had an afro, or a jewfro as my friends called it, so I got slapped with the nickname “Carlito” for my first few months.
Tell us about your first match. What happened that day, the feelings going into it and what advice did you get just before you went through curtain?
My nerves were through the roof the full day, from the moment I woke up and packed my gear and it only got worse through the day. I was teaming with my coach TJ Rage so we both had our badass leather jackets on looking like monster heels, but the moment we walked out that image was ruined. My mum in all the excitement of making my debut jumped out her seat and cuddled me which immediately ruined my badass look.
Do you have any fun road stories from your travels?
There’s a lot of funny stories from road trips with the guys and girls but the one I always talk about when asked was the time Ewan O’Raw helped at his first show and I was his car. He kept following one of the other guys just so he wouldn’t get lost but the guy he was following hated the sound of horns getting honked at him so of course me and some others in the car would keep honking Ewan’s horn without notice just to make it seem like he was winding the other guy up.
What have you been doing with yourself during lockdown?
Anything I could really, was at the gym constantly while it was open, go out walks whenever I could, watching wrestling that was still going on and I even gave streaming on twitch a go (don’t get many viewers but I still have fun with it).
Speaking of lockdown, once we return to some degree of normality, what are your goals within wrestling?
Just wrestle as much as I can. There’s a bunch of promotions out there I haven’t had the chance to work with yet so I’m hoping to change that ASAP.
We love some fantasy booking here so firstly tell us your top 5 non-UK wrestlers?
I feel like my answer would be mostly WWE superstars, so I’m gonna try to ratio it with some all time favourites and talent I’ve enjoyed watching recently. AJ Styles, Trey Miguel, Chris Bey, Undertaker and John Cena.
Now make up some matches putting them against some UK talent?
- AJ Styles vs BT Gunn
- Trey Miguel vs Daz Black
- Chris Bey vs Stevie Xavier
- Undertaker (in his prime) vs Wolfgang
- and John Cena vs TJ Rage
What advice would you give to any aspiring wrestlers?
Make sure to do your research on the school, coaches etc. I’d also say go into it expecting the unexpected because some schools are different from others and will most likely have different training methods.
Describe Stone Malone to our readers? What can they expect from a Stone Malone match?
Hard hitting action. Whether it’s a tag match, singles match, multi person match you can guarantee someone will end up being thrown around by me.
Where can our readers find you on social media?
Thank you very much to Stone Malone for the interview and we can’t wait to see him back in the ring once lockdown is over.
