Preview: WrestleZone ‘Proving Grounds 2016’

13558869_1149662631742721_3782427958839481362_oWrestleZone are back at the Cairncry Community Centre on Saturday July 23rd for the 2016 edition of Proving Grounds. Proving Grounds is always one of my favourite nights on the WrestleZone calendar as it gives some of the younger names more of a chance to showcase their talents. The card that’s been put together for this show looks fantastic, so let’s take a look at it.

Alan Sterling vs Cysto 1

The first match signed for the show sees Cysto 1 face off against Sterling Oil member Alan Sterling. This will be Alan’s last chance to gain momentum heading into his tag title match at Battle of the Nations alongside his brother William against Kaden Garrick and Mr P. What better night to try and prove himself than Proving Grounds. Cysto will also be looking to try and make a name for himself, and if he is able to defeat Alan then you can almost guarantee Los Cystos would be next in line for a title shot. Alan may have his manager Richard R. Russell at ringside, a man who will go to any costs to make sure his men win.

Shawn Johnson vs Jason Reed

Shawn Johnson, another member of Sterling Oil, will have a tough test ahead on the 23rd of July, when he faces a man making his debut in WrestleZone. That man is known as Jason Reed. While Shawn’s rivalry with Bryan Tucker is far from over, he will need to forget about that on this night. Jason Reed is no easy man to put away as he has proved time and time again, and I think it’s about time he brought his talents to the WrestleZone.

Blindfold Match for the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship
Scotty Swift (c) vs Super Executioner

The main event for this Saturday is most certainly an interesting one. Super Executioner, a man who doesn’t exactly have the best win/loss record, has challenged Scotty Swift to put his Undisputed title on the line in a ‘special’ match. Scotty suggested a Street Fight, and a Falls Count Anywhere match. But the Executioner can’t stand the sight of the Red Haired Warrior, so the match has been signed as a Blindfold match. Yes, that’s actually happening. Sure to be interesting.

Damien vs Jimbo Bannon

The final match set for this Saturday sees Sterling Oil member Damien face off against the latest man to emerge from WrestleZone’s training school in Jimbo Bannon. Jimbo has vastly impressed me with the very few amount of times I’ve seen him, and he just keeps getting better and better. Meanwhile, Damien is set to challenge Scotty Swift for the Undisputed title in a few weeks at Battle of the Nations so will likely be looking to make a statement at the expense of young Jimbo. Since there’s no Aspen Faith on the show, I think this is the match that will top it all off.

Also at this Saturday’s show, fans will have the opportunity to purchase the brand new Crusher Craib DVD. The DVD, priced at just Β£8, features some of Crusher’s best matches against names such as Shawn Johnson and the Rejected.

Proving Grounds is WrestleZone’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to all us fans, and have slashed ticket prices to just Β£7 for all. Tickets can be bought online or you can pay at the door on the night. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the action getting underway at 7pm.
