In the main event of night two of WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship for the first time.

The win followed Drew withstanding three F-5’s to comeback and hit the Claymore kick on multiple occasions to pin Lesnar.

WrestleMania 36 was held behind closed doors at the WWE Performance Center due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ayrshire native Drew McIntyre becomes the first Scottish and British WWE Champion, after winning the Intercontinental, Tag Team, and NXT Championship in the company. This victory also means he is a triple crown winner in WWE.

2020 Royal Rumble winner, McIntyre is a former World Heavyweight Champion in Insane Championship Wrestling, along with holding titles all over the world including EVOLVE, WCPW, and Impact Wrestling.

Drew McIntyre is currently the fifth Scottish champion in WWE following Nikki Cross (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion), Kay Lee Ray (NXT UK Women’s Champion), Wolfgang and Mark Coffey (NXT UK Tag Team Champions) all being current title holders.
